Data Recovery for Sacramento Businesses
Failed hard drive, dead SSD, corrupted memory card, or a RAID array that will not rebuild. We coordinate professional cleanroom recovery with free in-lab diagnostics and free inbound shipping, so you know what is recoverable and what it costs before committing to anything.
Before You Do Anything Else
The most common reason data becomes unrecoverable is what happens in the first hour after the failure. If the data matters, stop here first.
-
Power the device down and leave it off
A drive with failing heads damages the platters a little more every time it spins up. Repeated power cycling is the single fastest way to turn a recoverable drive into an unrecoverable one.
-
Do not run recovery software on a failing drive
Consumer recovery tools are built for deleted files on a healthy disk. Run against failing hardware, they keep the drive working hard for hours and often make things worse.
-
Do not open the device
Drives are opened in a cleanroom for a reason. Ordinary room air puts particles on the platters, and that damage is permanent.
-
Do not write anything new to it
If files were deleted or a volume was formatted, every new write risks overwriting what you are trying to get back. Stop using the device entirely.
How It Works
Four steps, and you know the price before any recovery work begins.
-
Tell us what happened
Use the form below or call. We need to know the device type, what went wrong, and how urgent it is.
-
Ship it in free
Inbound UPS shipping is covered. For local businesses we can collect the device rather than have you post it.
-
Free in-lab diagnostic
The lab examines the device and reports what is recoverable, then quotes a fixed price. No charge for this step, whatever the answer.
-
You decide, then recovery starts
Approve the quote and recovery begins. Recovered data is returned on new media, and we help you get it back into service.
Service Levels and Typical Cost
Recovery is priced by media type and how fast you need it. The diagnostic is free at every service level, and you receive a fixed quote before any work starts.
| Service level | Diagnostic | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Free | 3 to 5 working days |
| Express | Free | 1 to 2 working days |
| Emergency | Free | Worked 24/7 until complete, 365 days a year |
| Media type | Standard service | Express service |
|---|---|---|
| Hard drive or SSD | $799 to $1,499 | $1,499 to $2,999 |
| Flash media (USB, SD, memory card) | $599 to $1,199 | $1,199 to $1,999 |
| RAID array or server | Quoted after diagnostic | Quoted after diagnostic |
| Emergency service | Quoted individually. Call for availability. | |
What We Will Tell You Straight
Data recovery is a field with a lot of overpromising in it. Three things you should hear before you spend anything.
Recovery is never guaranteed
Some failures are recoverable in full, some in part, and some not at all. The free diagnostic exists so you find out which one you have before paying for recovery, not after.
Sometimes it is not worth it
If the data is replaceable, or the quote exceeds what the data is worth to you, we will say so. Walking away after a free diagnostic costs you nothing.
We refer this work out, on purpose
Cleanroom recovery needs a facility and specialist equipment that no small MSP should pretend to have. We work with a professional lab rather than attempting it in-house.
The best outcome is not needing us
Recovery costs more than backup, every single time. Once your data is back, we would rather sell you a backup that makes this the last time.
Making This the Last Time
A recovery invoice is usually more than a year of backup. Once your data is back, the cheapest thing you can do is make sure a failed drive is an inconvenience rather than an emergency.
-
Server backup and disaster recovery
Server backup starts at $45 per month including 2 TB, with additional storage at $15 per terabyte per month. Restoring from backup takes hours, not weeks, and costs nothing extra when you need it.
-
Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup
Cloud data is not backed up by your provider the way most people assume. Independent backup is $5 per user per month, and it is included in every Email Security tier.
-
Backup you have actually tested
An untested backup is a hope, not a plan. We document what gets restored, in what order, and how long it takes, then prove it with a real test restore.
Common Questions
How much does data recovery cost?
For a hard drive or SSD on standard service, typically $799 to $1,499. Flash media such as USB sticks and memory cards typically runs $599 to $1,199. Express service roughly doubles those figures because the lab reorders its queue around your job. RAID arrays and servers are quoted individually. The diagnostic that produces your fixed quote is free, so you learn the exact price before committing.
What if the data cannot be recovered?
The diagnostic is free, so if the lab determines the data is not recoverable you have not paid for the attempt. Recovery is quoted and charged only when there is data to recover. Ask us to confirm the current terms for your specific case when we send your quote, since they vary by media type and failure mode.
How long does it take?
Standard service is 3 to 5 working days from when the device arrives at the lab. Express is 1 to 2 working days. Emergency service is worked around the clock until the job is done, including weekends and holidays. Shipping time is on top of those figures, which is one reason we offer to collect devices locally rather than have you post them.
Can you recover data after a ransomware attack?
That is a different problem from physical failure. Ransomware encrypts files rather than damaging hardware, so lab recovery usually is not the right tool. What works is restoring from backup, and sometimes recovering shadow copies or unencrypted remnants. Call us before paying anyone a ransom. We will look at what you have and tell you honestly what your options are.
Is my data kept confidential?
Yes. If your device holds regulated data such as protected health information or client financial records, tell us up front so the correct handling and agreements are in place before the device ships. That matters for your own compliance obligations, not just ours.
